Carlsbad Research Center Park

VDLA was the original master planning landscape architect for The Carlsbad Research Center, a 560-acre high-tech research park. The reservoir feature collects runoff from the surrounding watershed and incorporates water quality best management practices to filter and clean runoff prior to potential discharge from the reservoir. In addition to water quality functions, the reservoir serves as a gathering place and point of visual interest for employees of the research park, featuring walkways, jogging paths, and a plaza with seating areas and sculpture. The CRC reservoir project received an Orchid Award for "Best Environmental Solution".
