Navy Garden Calendars
San Diego County, CA
AWARDS: Merit Award by the San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
As part of an IDIQ contract with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, VDLA prepared a “gardening calendar” to be distributed to residents of military housing developments in Southern California. The goal was to use graphic communication to help increase homeowner participation / maintenance of housing unit landscaping, thereby reducing Navy maintenance costs for upkeep. The calendars provided helpful tips for planting, pruning, watering and pest management, as well as graphics to help identify pests.
The calendars were part of the Navy’s Neighborhoods of Excellence program and were distributed to 20,000 military family housing locations.
