VDLA provided site planning and final construction documents for planting and irrigation. The design features a naturalistic cobbled swale that works with site drainage patterns and serves as a bioswale for water quality. The swale culminates in a depressed area at the entry plaza that features a riparian theme, a steel pedestrian bridge and large scale trees for shade. Other mature trees on the site were preserved as well. Native and drought resistant adaptive plantings were primarily used throughout the site, with only temporary irrigation needed. The accessibility issues within the site design were coordinated with the campus master plan, as well as processing through Division of State Architect (DSA).
