VDLA successfully worked with the development team through the public approval process, including input from five local community planning groups, the City of San Diego Planning Commission and the City of San Diego City Council. VDLA was responsible for character and thematic development along with the landscape architectural component of the tentative map preparation. VDLA also provided final design and construction documents for landscape architecture, water management / irrigation design, and construction administration services for the 2,658-acre, 934-unit multi-complex master planned residential development. The scope included final design for community monuments, community trails, walls and fences, street trees and sidewalks, lighting, mailbox locations, irrigation and central control communication services. Implementation of improvements includes16 miles of trails, rural-estate style entry features, a 6-acre active park, a 4-acre active park, neighborhood tot lot, and the donated open space for 2,000 acre Mission Trails Regional Park-North.
